Youth jazz recordings needed

Below was emailed by jazz DJ Jim Compton-Schmidt who has been collecting and airing student/youth jazz recordings including contributions from AJV's Justin DiCioccio (Manhattan School of Music), Clem DeRosa (various schools and ages) and Rich DeRosa (University of North Texas).

"This week end saw more than 40 c.d.'s being added to the source material...sooo i will soon be asking the station for another hour on thursday... and if i get it i will be doing a two hour a week program on "jazz building blocks" - from noon to 2:pm and i will do two hours each week on the other program i do "jazz then to now."  if you look very carefully at the cuts on each of these c.d.'s you will find a lot of the "american song book" in the school collection...soooo don't be surprised if you find your music showing up on both play lists..... www.kfsr.org <http://www.kfsr.org>    but for me the important part of this project is that i will be giving over a chunk of time to nothing but school/youth jazz!! 
  
i am still wondering if there is another station somewhere that focused 3 hours a month or two hours a week on nothing but youth/school jazz? if you know of such a place i hope you will let me know i would like to be in touch with them.....if not, you might want to tell some of the people you supply jazz to that this is happening here in fresno ca and it has been going on for almost a year...sooooo why is this jazz not receiving the kind of coverage EVERYWHERE that it receives here in fresno? (teehee)

(the number of cuts is important because the total tells me how many programs i can do without becoming repetitive ... who "owns" the c.d. is important because you can tell that other people have the kfsr c.d. available if they want to use it ... the date recorded is important because it indicates that archived - anything older than this year - c.d.s are being used on this program...) 
  
we have found out that sea breeze is out of business, i have now heard from mark music (in a big way) and i am waiting for summit and jazzheads to find more source material.... 
  
the collection that i picked up this week end also included 5 c.d.'s by youth band director bands and i will use those c.d.'s on my "jazz then to now" programs .. .i also added two holiday jazz c.d.'s that will find their way on to the air at a different time of year.... 
  
what your schools do or what your label produces is very important in the development of America's classical music.... 

i send play lists for for each of my programs. 
  
the program is now assured a spot well into the future ...as long as i am at kfsr i will get at least three hours a month for "jazz building blocks" ... thanks again to you all and keep us in mind please as we all go forward. "
